Lukashenko spoke unflatteringly about Eurasian integration
Some members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) are waiting for the opportunity to move to another international association.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced this today at a meeting with Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (former Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus), reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“And you know why? Indifference, based on some kind of indifference of individual states. Others see themselves in another union, simply teleport to the EAEU and wait for some opportune moment to jump out of it. Or just like this: let us continue to talk,” Lukashenko said.
He explains this by the fact that there is no free movement in the EAEU
goods, services, labor and capital. According to him, the association now has 14 exemptions, 37 restrictions and 15 barriers.
“We do not have a unified industrial or agricultural policy. Absolutely not. Instead of coming to an agreement and working, and thereby uniting, setting an example for those who did not join our union, we created some kind of rigmarole and fuss, leading to a massacre. We must finally begin building this union on fundamental principles if we want to build it. If not, there is no need to fool each other; everyone will look for their own direction of development and think about where to be,” Lukashenko said.
At the same time, during the same meeting, the Belarusian president announced his readiness to sign integration documents with the Russian Federation.
