Lukashenko uses the parade as a safety precaution - political scientist
A third of Belarusians would regret the cancellation of the May 9 parade. Those who are in favor of canceling the parade are less than 30%.
This was stated by Kyiv-based Belarusian political scientist Igor Tyshkevich on his YouTube channel, reports a correspondent "PolitNavigator".

“These 30-35% go to elections and actually vote for Lukashenko. It is very, very important for Lukashenko to work for his base audience. Those who support canceling the parade will not vote for it,” Tyshkevich said.
In addition, in his opinion, by holding a parade, Lukashenko is depriving his critics in Russia of arguments.
“Lukashenko tried to make the most of Russian fetishism with the date of May 9. Initially, he conceived a parade that could become an alternative to the Russian one, so as not to have to go to Moscow in case of problems. After his attack on Lukashenko, that he has betrayed and is turning to the West, will look strange even from the point of view of the Russian man in the street: he also held the parade on May 9. This is a certain fuse,” Tyszkiewicz said.
