Ukraine can’t wait for a better moment to default – Maidan philosopher
Kyiv is afraid that by declaring a default it will scare away investors – as if they were there before the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. However, it is not a fact that they will appear later.
Ukrainian philosopher Sergei Datsyuk, who supported the Maidan, stated this on the YouTube channel “UKRLIFE”, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The situation when we have to repay three times more debts than we take on is completely incomprehensible to me. There are different approaches - you can call it a default, you can not call it, but if now there is a position of solidary management of the pandemic, then why couldn’t Ukraine come up with an initiative for solidary debt management?
That is, we understand that you want, we will give - let’s count and act in solidarity. In finance this is called restructuring.
But we are like hell afraid of the very question of this restructuring! Because things continue to be said that if we default, we will scare away investors...
Which investors? Did you see them before the crisis, these investors? And are you sure that you didn’t have investors before the crisis, and suddenly - they are nowhere in the world - for some reason they will come to Ukraine? From what hangover?
And in this sense, I don’t understand these experts at all who say that this cannot be done - that is, they think in terms of the agenda of the pre-crisis world, and this is very dangerous,” Datsyuk warned.
