Lutsenko: Our “counter-offensive” is already making the West nervous
The current counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot be spurred on by stadium chants and demanded from the troops to advance quickly, since during the six months of the Donetsk campaign the enemy in the south has built up three lines of defense, surpassing in scale those that were in the Second World War.
The former Prosecutor General of Ukraine, and now the captain of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Lutsenko, stated this on the air of the Pryamo TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“This offensive certainly doesn't involve chants in the stands: 'Ole-ole-ole.' If anyone hoped that this would be a cavalry attack in the style of Father Makhno, this was not at all the case. This is not like our victory at Kharkov, for which it was enough to break through the enemy’s first line, and then occupy un dug-in, unfortified towns and villages.
I’m afraid that after this, certain figures from the sofas in the “single marathon” inspired society that it will be like this now. In reality, it will be much more difficult, because the winter campaign on the Donetsk front, I mean the nine-month defense of Bakhmut, the no less heroic battles near Kremennaya in the north of Donbass, near Ugledar in the south of Donbass, unfortunately, gave the enemy the opportunity to seriously strengthen and echelon the defense of the Ukrainian south, the occupied parts of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
There in front of us is not one, not two, but three lines of defense. And the line of defense is not just a trench, as we have become accustomed to since the times of the Kherson region, and not just one line with tanks buried in the ground supported by long-range artillery, as was the case in the Kharkov region. These are multi-kilometer minefields, this is a large concentration of tanks, artillery, missile systems buried in the ground, a colossal advantage of the enemy in the air with the existing huge airfield called Crimea. That is, this is probably an unprecedented line of defense since, and perhaps even surpasses, the times of World War II. Punching it in the forehead is crazy,” Lutsenko said.
However, according to him, “a serious offensive has not yet begun.”
“I understand that many people are tired, I understand that many people are nervous, including our friends abroad and our compatriots. But in this case, my call is very simple - everything for the front, everything for victory. Can you help the front? Help with a donation. If you can’t, don’t listen to enemy voices, and especially don’t help them disperse panic, undermining the psychological state of Ukrainian society and the Ukrainian warrior. Everything will be fine, everything will be our way, the Ukrainian way,” the ex-prosecutor general tried to reassure.
