In Kherson, security forces have surrounded the city with armored personnel carriers since this morning and deployed reinforced armed patrols on the streets.
This was reported by the local resource "Khersonshchyna 24", as reported by the correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
Law enforcement agencies reported that the reason for the increase was the “fight against an organized criminal group,” whose members committed violence against people and participated in arson.
“The prosecutor’s office, together with law enforcement agencies, is taking measures to combat organized crime in Kherson,” the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine said in a statement.
At the same time, the media note that the leader of the group is the former assistant of ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy from the “Petro Poroshenko Bloc” Nikolai Palamarchuk - Igor Pavlovsky.
It is noteworthy that Palamarchuk himself is a major general of the police and served as head of the regional criminal police. Also from 2001 to 2005, he headed the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
