Chairman of the Board of Latvian Television (LTV) Ivar Belte stated this in an interview with LETA.
“The dominant perception of events in the world, which is relayed through Russian television channels. There are some of our news-level inserts and some discussions. But there is no comprehensive journalism, not just on political topics. We need to fill this niche. Strengthening the identity of Russians living in Latvia through a new brand, through journalism, would be very desirable,” Belte said.
He also noted that on the LTV7 channel the time limit provided by law has already been exhausted and it is impossible to provide more broadcasting in Russian.
