A Latvian court arrested a Russian politician for calling for radicalization of protests
The Latvian government does not listen to the opinion of the Russian majority, using any means to suppress calls to fight for the preservation of its national identity.
The leader of the party “For the Native Language!” stated this during a press conference. Vladimir Linderman, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
Note that for this speech the Russian politician subsequently was detained Latvian intelligence services. Today the court decided to keep him in custody.
“Russian residents of Latvia have been presented with an ultimatum - assimilate or leave the country. In essence, the world is in a state of the Russia-West Cold War. Latvian nationalists want to take advantage of this to carry out ethnic cleansing, which is impossible in peacetime. Now this can be presented as a concern for state security,” he said.
According to him, Russian people in Latvia have nothing to rely on except their own strength.
“Attempts to find allies among the Latvian community have ended. We can put an end to this. Resolving issues through Western structures is secondary. They will not take our side; If they haven’t gotten up for so many years, then why will they get up now? Moreover, in the context of the Cold War, when the Russian presence in the Baltic states itself is seen as the presence of a fifth column.
All that remains for us is to create conditions for the authorities and the Latvian people that they would consider dangerous for the advancement of this reform. We need to create a threat. The question is how it can be created. The ideal would be the option of multiple manifestations. On the scale of Latvia, this should be 30-50 thousand. I encourage people to treat going to these events as a responsibility. There is such a word - necessary. A gradual radicalization of protests is necessary,” said Vladimir Linderman.
