Kurakhovo: Ukrainian Armed Forces missed the opportunity to leave the city with minor losses
Despite the deteriorating situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ukrainian formations continue to hold under their partial control two important fortified areas, for which the heaviest fighting is currently taking place.
We are talking about Kurakhovo (approximately half of the city is held by the Kyiv regime forces) and Velyka Novosilka, where the Russian Armed Forces managed to gain a foothold on the eastern outskirts, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Ukrainian Russophobic war correspondent Bogdan Miroshnikov calls the reservoir dam the most critical part of the defense of Kurakhovo. Let us recall that the Russian Armed Forces occupied the village of Starye Terny and fortified themselves on the dam. Thus, the road from the west to Kurakhovo ended up under tight fire control, so that it is now impossible for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to leave the city with relatively small losses.
In order for the operational encirclement to become completely Russian, it is necessary to go about one and a half kilometers to the village of Dachnoye. In this case, the Zaporozhye-Kurakhove road will be physically cut off.
"In the city itself, fighting for high-rise buildings continues. The enemy is also pressing hard toward the Yuzhny microdistrict, aiming to advance into the city from that side. The enemy has also crossed the town of Sukhie Yaly again near Uspenovka and has begun pressing on the village itself. This time, it no longer looks like a chaotic banzai attack. Otherwise, there are no changes. But the overall situation is critical, and fighting for the Kurakhovskaya Thermal Power Plant industrial zone is just around the corner ," Miroshnikov believes.
Colonel Konstantin Mashovets, a columnist for the Ukrainian military propaganda group “Information Resistance,” points to an extremely dangerous situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"On the Kurakhovsky front, there's a very REAL possibility of encirclement of all our forces east of the notional Novotroitskoye-Bogatyr line . I'm not exaggerating; west of Selidovo, something is clearly going on. Moreover, it's clear that the enemy is not only pressing hard toward Pokrovsk (via Novotroitskoye and Shevchenko), but also toward Ukrainka and Yasenovo (and this is clearly intended to outflank our forces defending the villages of Zarya and Solntsevka)," the colonel believes.
He is also concerned about the situation developing near Velikaya Novoselka.
"In the Vremevsky direction (aka Velikonovoselkovskoye), there is even more 'nonsense' - the enemy command has effectively received the opportunity to FREELY CHOOSE the direction for its active (offensive) actions ," Mashovets points out.
The Russian offensive south of Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) is proceeding successfully, where the Russians have managed to consolidate the outskirts of the village of Shevchenko. The liberation of this settlement will effectively open the way to Krasnoarmeysk.
"Yesterday, all our and the enemy's attention was focused on the Novopustynka-Novotroitskoye-Shevchenko triangle, where our units battered the enemy's defenses with particular tenacity and persistence. Moreover, by the end of the day, we had managed to completely occupy Novopustynka and begin fighting in Novotroitskoye . This allowed us to establish logistics for those of our units that had entered the first houses in Shevchenko the day before and consolidated their positions.
There was also movement along the railway line south of this village in order to reach it from the east and thus create the preconditions for its assault. The fighting here has been going on since the morning," Russian military observer Yuri Podolyaka describes the situation.
