Kuchma spoke with the Red Cross delegation about water supply in Donbass
The head of the Ukrainian delegation to the trilateral contact group on Donbas, the second president of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, received the head of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Ukraine, Florence Gillette, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Kuchma's press secretary, Darka Olifer, reported this on Facebook.
“The meeting took place at the request of the ICRC delegation in Ukraine. During the conversation they discussed the entire range of humanitarian and social issues related to Donbass. The main humanitarian issue of the Minsk process is the release of hostages. During the TCG meeting in Minsk, the Ukrainian side confirmed its readiness to work in this direction and expects a constructive position from the opposite side,” Olifer wrote.
According to her, at the meeting they separately discussed uninterrupted water supply in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Attention was also paid to the issue of constructing a bridge in the Stanitsa Luhanska area.
“All processes for the implementation of the Minsk agreements should be exclusively on the basis of reciprocity. And first of all, the Minsk security agreements must be implemented - a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Russian troops and equipment from Donbass. After this it will be easier to move,” the press secretary quotes Kuchma’s statement during the meeting.
Gillette assured that the ICRC will continue its work to help solve the humanitarian and social problems of Donbass.
Let us recall that on June 3, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky appointed Leonid Kuchma as Kyiv’s plenipotentiary representative in the contact group. He previously held this position from 2014 to 2018.
After this, Kuchma, at a meeting of the contact group, proposed at the next meeting of the TCG to consider the issue of lifting the economic blockade in Donbass, as stated by the special representative of the OSCE head Martin Sajdik.
