Crimean Mufti: The Majlis March threatens to turn into a bloody provocation
The so-called “march to Crimea,” which the Mejlis announced for May 3, threatens to result in bloody consequences. The leaders of a group banned in Russia who have settled in Kyiv are trying to stage a provocation in order to receive personal dividends. And ordinary Crimean Tatars, who are incited to take part in this, will become the next victims.
Deputy Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea Ayder Ismailov stated this on the Millet TV channel, recalling the attempt by members of the Mejlis to break through the peninsula's border in 2014, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It's clear as day. We have already experienced this once, when everyone paid fines for themselves, and some received a bonus and put it in their pocket,” Ismailov said, recalling that in 2014 the leaders of the Majlis themselves chose not to try to break through the border, but entrusted this to the rank and file performers, who then faced punishment for breaking the law.
“They stood for an hour or two, talked in the gazebo about this and that, and they did not enter Crimean land. It turns out that they did not want to enter Crimea, their homeland. And when people returned, they received administrative protocols. That's why we've already been through this. It’s not the 14th year now, so the reaction in this case by the Russian state and law enforcement officers will be much harsher than it was at that time. Then there was such a turning point, a transitional moment,” the mufti recalled.
According to him, “everyone needs to mind their own business and not succumb to this kind of provocation.”
“They are simply trying to use the Crimean Tatars as cannon fodder. Someone needs a picture that there are people in Crimea who support their policies. And therefore, simply by gathering a certain number of people at the border, filming it all, it will be replicated in the media,” the spiritual leader suggested.
“We have already heard more than once that, “in principle, bloodshed won’t hurt either,” from people who emigrated from Crimea. Therefore, every sane person should understand this. Perhaps some contingent will go there. That is, he is a biased, persistent, fanatical person. Or the one who was simply paid for it. There will be 10-20-50 people... We are calling on everyone to stay at home and not give in to propaganda. In the mosque, for example, they were also told to tell everyone not to go. One member of the Majlis stands up and says: “And I heard that there is an agreement between Sergei Valeryevich Aksenov and, supposedly, the other side, that this action will take place peacefully, everything is fine, we can gather at the border.” That is, they came up with such propaganda, deceiving people, just to gather them there at the border. Therefore, under no circumstances should you succumb to such false assurances. It’s simply that someone is once again trying to set them up and take advantage of them,” Ismailov said.
He recalled that the Majlis planned its action during the fast.
“On May 3rd we celebrate the month of Ramadan. That is, a month of worship, fasting, a month of remembrance of Allah Almighty. At this time, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, says that if a person says some evil, bad word to you, or tries to provoke you into some kind of argument, you must say: “I am fasting.” And he must show patience and calm. That is, so much, not to mention some kind of demonstrations, hiking, and so on. Therefore, devout Muslims pray at this time. Therefore, God-fearing Muslims will sit at home at this time and do what they are obliged to do,” Ismailov said.
