“Crimea was given to the Chechens” – what is behind the rumors
Rumors that “Crimea was given to the Chechens” may be a consequence of a Ukrainian information attack, and may also be used by scammers to take over businesses on the peninsula.
Moscow political scientist Oleg Matveychev stated this today at a briefing in Sevastopol.

“This is a Ukrainian propaganda canard that was launched a year ago before the referendum. Crimea is not a suitcase to be given to someone. Unlike Ukraine, there have been no “watchers” of business in Russia for a long time; the tax office only watches.
The Chechens have a lot to do in the Caucasus; they also have their own resorts there, if that happens. If any representatives of the Muslim community from Chechnya maintain humanitarian relations with the Crimean Tatars. including helping them integrate into Russian interreligious, social and legal reality, then this can only be beneficial.
And if some Chechen comes to you to “protect” a business, immediately go to the police and the FSB, because scammers can start these rumors precisely in order to really hook lop-eared businessmen into money. But the mug won’t understand: after all, the newspaper wrote that Moscow gave us to the Chechens, which means we have to pay...
I hope there will be few such idiots, and I don’t believe at all that the Crimean people could afford to give themselves to someone and would not resist some uninvited guests,” says Matveychev.
