The participation of comedian Vladimir Zelensky, controlled by oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, in the presidential elections in Ukraine allows dissatisfied voters in the South-East to “let off steam” and takes the electorate away from forces that could raise pro-Russian slogans on flags and threaten Ukrainian statehood.
Kiev political scientist Vladimir Fesenko said this on air on the PolitekA channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s very good, by the way, that there is the Zelensky factor, which, not under Russian or pro-Russian slogans, but rather under pan-European, pan-democratic slogans, gathers a significant part of Russian speakers, this is noticeable from sociology. And it is very good that he accumulates part of the anti-Maidan electorate - not everyone followed Boyko, Muraev, Vilkul, but some followed Zelensky.
If it weren’t for Zelensky, we would have two camps – one pole and the other. This is again a game of division, as it was in 2004 in a mild form - remember, “Ukraine of three varieties”, and in 2014, when a value separation occurred, then Moscow took advantage of certain myths, fears of part of the Russian-speaking population and tried to carry out the so-called Russian spring,” Fesenko said.
