Koch: "The price of Zelensky's whims is human lives"
Former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alfred Koch, who fled to Germany, condemned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has lost his legitimacy, for refusing to talk to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, whom US President-elect Donald Trump entrusted with the role of mediator in the Ukrainian conflict.
Koch stated this in an interview with Yevgeny Kiselev, a TV presenter and foreign agent who fled to Ukraine, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I'm ready to talk, he says, even with the devil, so that Ukrainians don't die. Now he's uncomfortable with Orbán. You, my dear, have become so picky. What's wrong with you? You're ready to talk with the devil, but Orbán isn't the devil to you . I'm ready to acquiesce to any whim of any ruler, if the price of those whims weren't human lives. But if people die every day, vast sums of money are spent, cities are destroyed, and we're debating whether this mediator is suitable or not , that's simply not acceptable," Koch said.
Last week, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto contacted Zelensky's chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, and asked to arrange a conversation between the leaders of the two countries. In response, Yermak, according to the Hungarian minister, "refused somewhat tensely and in an uncultured manner."
Before this, Orban met with Trump in the United States, and then spoke for an hour with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
