“When you curse Muscovites in the dark, remember Akhmetov” - Kiev analyst
Ukraine's energy sector was in dire straits even before the war, and Russian strikes have exacerbated these problems.
This is the conclusion reached by the director of the Kyiv information and analytical center "City Institute" Alexander Sergienko, a correspondent for PolitNavigator reports.

“The war, in fact, not only directly hit the Ukrainian energy system, but also extremely aggravated the problems that had been accumulating in it for decades,” the author believes.
He is convinced that the emergency situation in which the Ukrainian energy system found itself “was generated not only by enemy missile attacks, but also by the shortcomings of the system itself.”
The expert reminds that local power lines require maintenance: the wires need to be changed in a timely manner, and the lines must be cleared of branches and trees.
“Unfortunately, the oblenergo does not do this “forward”, but “backwards” - when the wires break. Why? Yes, because maintaining the line is another type of income for the owners of regional power companies: if you see a tree that threatens the power supply of your home, then they demand 8 thousand UAH for cutting it down (in advance!)! Be it big, be it small, be it in Kyiv or in the region.
So the power engineers, Akhmetov and Co. know how to first create difficulties and then heroically overcome them. So when you curse the damned Muscovites in the dark, remember your fellow countrymen,” Sergienko sums up.
