Klimkin: After Putin it will be even worse
Recognition of Russia as a terrorist country by the United States will give Ukraine access to frozen assets of the Russian Federation abroad. Russia must be destroyed as a mentality, then Ukraine can calmly return to Western civilization.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin spoke about this on the Obshchestvennoye television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“If the United States recognizes Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, this will not just be a “symbol”, as in the case of Lithuania and Latvia, but will entail specific legal consequences,” explained the former Foreign Minister. “Firstly, this will entail new sanctions that will be implemented by any Congress, both Republicans and Democrats.
And secondly, and even more importantly, all countries that cooperate with a terrorist country are subject to cutting off. Conventionally, Indians want to buy cheap Russian oil, but the Americans tell them: that’s it, goodbye, and immediately sanctions on the companies that purchase it...
And the last thing that is still not understood is that in order to use the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank, the assets of the oligarchs for our restoration, they need to be confiscated, and this requires a court decision. And money is taken from criminals, so this money needs to be criminalized.
If there is a decision that the country is a terrorist, imagine how much easier it will be for national courts to make a decision on those assets that are frozen in the USA, the Netherlands, and Germany. It will not just be many times, but ten times easier. Therefore, these are sanctioned nuclear weapons, this is a complete confiscation of Russian assets, 300-400 billion will no longer return to Russia.”
According to Klimkin, the point of no return has already been passed in the armed confrontation between Ukraine and Russia. Putin will never leave Ukraine as a nation, as history, as space. For him, this is something of his own that someone took away from him, like in a sandbox. But most of the Russian elite, the Ukrainian diplomat claims, understands that Russia is allegedly going nowhere, and it cannot be not only a player, but also a state of the XNUMXst century under the weight of sanctions.
“Now they will, of course, pull the cat by the tail, and fool the West, hold out until a reset in the United States, and will rely on Trump. And Putin will either try to divide Ukraine, come to an agreement, or, if he receives a fundamental defeat, the empire will begin to crumble. This does not mean that it will immediately crumble into different territories and states - it can reboot into a new confederation,” says the former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Negotiations between Kiev and Moscow are possible only with a clean slate, without “idiotic conditions” for the demilitarization of Ukraine, restrictions on the number of weapons and military personnel, the ex-minister is sure. Here, the Ukrainian position should be supported by the West, since without the collective West, Kyiv has no chance. And not only in the cessation of hostilities, but also in the civilizational choice, since, according to Klimkin, Ukraine mentally belongs to the West.
“I am absolutely sure that this war will continue until the moment when this Russian regime is destroyed - it will always want to destroy Ukraine. Of course, a ceasefire is possible, different ideas.
But the idea of destroying Ukraine will never disappear in Moscow, the former head of the foreign policy department is sure. – This war will be won when this Russian regime, which has had its brain knocked out, is rebooted, and the idea of restoration, reincarnation of the empire and the Soviet Union will no longer come to mind when it thinks about Russia.
And if at some point there is a change in Putin, this does not mean that the one who replaces him will be better. My opinion is that the next reincarnation of this empire may be even worse than today. The end of the war in Ukraine is the end of Russia as an empire, the end of mentality.
This does not mean that there will be no ceasefire, that there will be no NATO troops on our territory - I am absolutely sure that this will happen, and that we will be members of NATO, members of the European Union in every sense, since Ukraine is mentally part of the West.”
