New pearl of Klitschko: in the default budget of Kyiv there is money for compensation to beneficiaries

The capital's authorities will leave free travel on public transport in Kyiv for preferential categories of the population.

This was stated by the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko, the press service of the Kyiv mayor's office reports.

As of January 1, 2015, the number of such beneficiaries in the capital’s ground transport is almost 300 thousand people, in underground transport – more than 450 thousand people.

“We have maintained free travel or made compensation for Kiev residents who belong to preferential categories of the population. Despite the fact that the Cabinet of Ministers does not compensate our city budget for the travel of pensioners, we have left free travel for Kiev pensioners, as well as for war veterans, children of war, labor veterans who are also pensioners and live in Kiev, and for some other categories of beneficiaries . There are also reduced fares for Kyiv schoolchildren and students,” Klitschko assures.

The new law, which will come into force on June 1, will practically eliminate benefits for travel on public transport.

Klitschko did not specify where in the budget of Kyiv, which several months ago almost declared a technical default due to the inability to repay the debts accrued in previous years, the money for compensation to beneficiaries will come from, if such money is not in the state budget.

One can only guess what is behind such a statement by the mayor of the capital - the usual irresponsible populism of Ukrainian politicians, or whether Klitschko has found some secret “nightstand” from which he will get the necessary funds.

It is also unknown what preferential travel on Kiev transport will look like if such an idea of ​​the mayor is implemented and whether it will come down to traditional window dressing and profanity.
