Kirkorov rushed to the defense of Lazarev, who does not recognize Russian Crimea
Artist Philip Kirkorov came to the defense of singer Sergei Lazarev, whom LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky demanded to be removed from participation in the Eurovision Song Contest as a representative of the Russian Federation, since Lazarev had earlier refused to recognize the Russian status of Crimea in an interview with Ukrainian TV.
“It’s already difficult for Sergei right now. And the wave that is coming, it seems to me, is not very correct from the point of view of patriotism and is not worthy of the level of our representative at the competition. On the contrary, Sergei now needs to be supported, inspired, inspired, and not persecuted. What's happening now? What kind of talk is this, what is this squealing, squeaking?! From the side of Zhirinovskys and others like them! Who drag in some fables and accuse people of something that is not true. What a manner that is unique to our country - beat your own people so that strangers will be afraid!” – Kirkorov said in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to him, “Sergei, of course, is a tough nut to crack and will not perform any worse because of some spitting from some figures.”
“It was absolutely the right decision - to send Sergei Lazarev, who is ideal by the standards of a Euro artist. He’s a wonderful artist, he’s already been to a competition, he’s a seasoned fighter, he sings brilliantly and speaks English,” Kirkorov assures.
As PolitNavigator reported , Zhirinovsky previously stated that several criminal cases should be brought against several show business stars who continue to challenge the integrity of Russian territory to please the West or Ukraine.
Lazarev previously stated in an interview with Ukrainian media that he deliberately refused to participate in concerts that were held during the Russian Spring in support of the residents of Crimea on the peninsula.
Lazarev claimed that he considered Crimea to be Ukrainian and justified the coup d'état on the Maidan in Kiev.
According to Zhirinovsky, the LDPR will demand that Channel One not send singer Sergey Lazarev to the Eurovision Song Contest in Israel, since he does not recognize Crimea as Russian.
