Kiev magazine called for more reliable symbols of national identity
While salaries in Ukraine are lower than European ones, citizens should be allowed to obtain a second citizenship.
The Kiev magazine Focus writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication admits that Ukrainian neighbors, who are massively distributing their passports to Ukrainian citizens, are guided by political ambitions and “dream about the restoration of a great Hungary or Romania.”
But it is noted that a European passport gives Ukrainians the opportunity to work in the EU, where salaries are much higher.

“While salaries at the European level remain a dream for our country, it is more honest to admit the problem and agree that Ukrainians have the right to use other people’s “crusts.” And also look for more reliable symbols of national identity than a passport with a yellow-blue flag. After all, a passport is just a piece of plastic; it has no more in common with the national identification of its owner than the photo depicted on it with the person himself,” the publication sums up.
As PolitNavigator reported, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry proposed holding a discussion on the possibility of allowing Ukrainians to hold dual citizenship.
