The Kiev District Administrative Court postponed the consideration of the lawsuit against the Kyiv City Council of two public organizations that are challenging the renaming of General Nikolai Vatutin Avenue to the Avenue of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army Roman Shukhevych to August.

On June 1, the Kiev City Council voted to rename Vatutina Avenue to Shukhevych Avenue. The draft decision was submitted to the Kyiv City Council by the head of the Svoboda faction, Yuriy Sirotyuk.
On June 12, it became known that the District Administrative Court of Kyiv prohibited the Kyiv City Council from submitting for signature and publishing a decision to rename Vatutin Avenue to Shukhevych Avenue before considering the case on its merits. The renaming of Vatutina Avenue is being contested by the public organizations “Anti-Fascist Human Rights League” and “Jewish Human Rights Group”. They demand that the actions of the City Council be declared illegal.
Nikolai Vatutin - Hero of the Soviet Union. During the Great Patriotic War, he led the troops of the Voronezh, South-Western and First Ukrainian Fronts. In 1944, he was wounded during a shootout with UPA militants and died the same year in Kyiv.
Roman Shukhevych is one of the OUN leaders, commander of UPA militant units, commander of the Nazi Nachtigal battalion and a graduate of the Abwehr intelligence school.
