Kiev diplomat advises Galicians not to stick their snout into Donbass
Ukraine still does not control Donbass, so the indignation of Kyiv, and especially Western Ukraine, regarding the distribution of Russian passports to residents of the DPR and LPR looks very strange.
This was stated on the NewsOne channel by the former head of the information department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, international expert Oleg Voloshin, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“It’s funny about territory that we: a) don’t control; b) on the territory of Ukraine there is a consensus that Russia already, in one way or another, controls this territory.
Many of those who today shout “ah-ah-ah, they started handing out passports” wrote a year and a half ago that Donbass is not needed at all, otherwise we will bring back the people who will elect Yanukovych again. This is very strange to hear, especially from residents of Western Ukraine - this is not their problem at all, not their grief. They especially like to tell what residents of Donbass can and cannot do.
But the main thing is different. A full-fledged migration policy has emerged in Russia regarding residents of the CIS. Russia needs people, not territories. It has enough of its own territories, it is sparsely populated. We are talking about drawing into Russia about 50 million Russian-speaking citizens, preferably Slavs, residents of the CIS,” the expert said.
According to him, it is possible to talk about the return of territories only if there is a serious change in humanitarian policy.
“They want Russia to restore territorially the status quo at the beginning of 2014. This is impossible. But even if this were possible, then the internal humanitarian field of Ukraine would need to be returned to the beginning of 2014 - with the Kolesnichenko-Kivalov law, Moskovsky Avenue instead of Bandera Avenue in Kiev, without a law on decommunization, without quotas on television,” the diplomat added .
He is also convinced that the issues of Donbass and Crimea cannot be linked.
“Moscow doesn’t want to return Crimea, they don’t consider it possible. They want Ukraine to close the Crimea issue. I understand that Ukraine cannot recognize the annexation of Crimea, since we cannot recognize the forced change of borders in Europe, but if we link these two issues, then we will not solve one or the other,” Voloshin said.
