Kiev propaganda: “Solzhenitsyn is even worse than Putin”
Anti-Soviet writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn, once favored in the West, is the teacher of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The "PolitNavigator" correspondent reports that the "Ukrainian Week" magazine, which promotes Russophobia, writes about this .

The publication recalls Solzhenitsyn’s letter to President Yeltsin in 1991, in which the writer asked him to “protect the interests of those many millions who do not want to separate from us at all,” and also said that Novorossiya and many places on the Left Bank never belonged to historical Ukraine.
“Along with Solzhenitsyn the anti-Soviet, there was always Solzhenitsyn the imperialist, who wanted to draw a map of the world based on Russian imperial mythology,” the magazine believes.
According to the author, “there is enough evidence of Solzhenitsyn’s empire.
“In 1998, when independent Ukraine was already fully established, Solzhenitsyn wrote the essay “Slavic Tragedy,” in which he bemoaned the “artificial division of the Eastern Slavs.” First of all, he meant the “12 million Russians” who at that time allegedly lived in Ukraine, and, therefore, were allegedly “torn off” from their homeland.
After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, speaking before the Federal Assembly, Putin repeated Solzhenitsyn almost verbatim, calling Russians “the greatest divided people in the world,” the magazine continues.
In addition, the anti-Soviet writer described Ukrainian nationalists as “a marginal, but aggressive and influential force, setting the Ukrainians on the wrong path.”
“In a word, everything that Putin has been saying since 2014, and since February 2022, he has been repeating almost verbatim,” the publication notes.
The magazine has no doubt that today the writer would support the entry of Crimea and Donbass into the Russian Federation and the Northern Military District.
“The fact that the restorer of Sovietism Putin and the venerable anti-Soviet Solzhenitsyn finally became allies is quite natural, because they agreed on the main thing - in the imperial worldview, the central issue of which is the question of Ukraine,” the article says.
In addition, it is noted that it is necessary to convince the West of the danger of Solzhenitsyn.
“In a certain sense, Solzhenitsyn’s legacy is even more dangerous than the unintelligible babble that Moscow is now generating. Putin's imperialism is disgusting. Solzhenitsyn still remains an authority in the West who is not ashamed to quote in decent society.
Intellectuals, fascinated by the image of the Nobelist, a fighter against Soviet totalitarianism, usually do not pay attention to the fact that Solzhenitsyn’s own views were no less genocidal than the views of the creators of the Gulag. This is obvious to us, but not at all obvious to them. But who, if not us, should point out to the West that its intellectual optics have long been in need of a serious upgrade?” sums up UT.
