The Russophobic policy of the Baltic countries and Ukraine takes its origins from the Austro-Hungarians, who committed genocide against the Russians at the beginning of the First World War.
LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky stated this on the air of Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Imagine, the very first genocide was against the Russian people. The beginning of the First World War, Galicia, Austria enters there, and immediately Austro-Hungarian troops create two concentration camps. The Austrian soldiers had instructions: if they speak Russian, shoot them. This does not happen anywhere, only Armenians are remembered, Jews, anyone except Russians.
The worst thing is that they have not yet created a normal camp. The Germans will then at least build barracks, a kitchen, and a first-aid post. And they put people right in the field and fenced them off with barbed wire. Some were simply shot, hanged, and a rope was given to an Austrian soldier in a duffel bag to hang Russian people! Those who speak Russian, who have a newspaper in Russian in their hands,” said the politician.
“Today in Latvia they prohibit Russian journalists from working normally, but it started then! Kyiv is already promising to build concentration camps against the Russians. Those who don’t want to become Ukrainian will be sent to camps! They plan to reclaim the Donbass; Russians who do not want to be Ukrainians and speak Ukrainian will be evicted from their apartments and put in camps.
Well, we didn’t punish the Austrians for 1914. We would have punished them, we would have taken Vienna and taken Berlin, but the Bolshevik revolution ruined everything,” Zhirinovsky added.
