Activists insist on the creation of an independent expert commission to study the cultural value of the decoration of Kyiv metro stations.
In particular, we are talking about a mosaic panel at the Shulyavskaya metro station (created in 1963) - the work of the Honored Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize named after T. Shevchenko, Ivan Litovchenko; and a mosaic panel at the “Palace of Ukraine” metro station (created in 1984), the author of which is the Honored Artist of Ukraine, People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR Stepan Kirichenko.

Furthermore, activists are insisting on the creation of an independent expert commission to study the cultural value of the artistic design of Kyiv metro stations.
“According to Article 13 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Protection of Cultural Heritage,” objects of cultural heritage, regardless of the form of ownership, in accordance with their archaeological, aesthetic, ethnological, historical, artistic, scientific or artistic value are subject to registration by entering into the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine by category national and local significance of the monument.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, Kyiv City Council deputies decided to remove Soviet symbols from the Kyiv metro. This includes the destruction of the "Reunification of Ukrainian Lands. 1939" medallion at the Vokzalna metro station.
