Croatian grant eater: Russians and Serbs want to turn Montenegro into a weak link in NATO
Montenegro fell under the “malicious influence” of Russia.
Gordan Akrap, President of the Croatian Institute for Hybrid Warfare, stated this at the Black Sea and Balkan Security Forum in Romania, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Through intensive malign activity over the past few years, together with Serbia, Russia has been able to reshape Montenegro's political landscape, exploiting some of its weaknesses and complex challenges. And now I fear we, NATO, have yet another country that could be used as a Russian proxy ," Akrap said.
He also accused Serbia of creating a “Serbian world” – referring to the influence of Belgrade’s “soft power” in the seized territories after NATO’s dismemberment of the former Yugoslavia.
"All these countries face serious security, political, economic, and energy challenges. What's important, from our perspective, is that some Serbian political leaders have attempted to replicate the concept of the Russian World in the Serbian World across the six Western Balkan countries . And they have the support of many different institutions and organizations within the Serbian population and the six Balkan countries," Akrap said.
Montenegro separated from Serbia in 2006 under the pretext of “faster integration into the EU”, but has still not received EU membership. In 2017, against the will of the population, Montenegro was included in NATO by the pro-Western ruling elite without a referendum. Now about 30% of the population of this former part of Yugoslavia call themselves ethnic Serbs.
