Many countries have territorial disputes with Russia, but no one, except Ukraine, has thought of military provocations, which threaten unpredictable consequences.

This opinion was expressed on the Rossiya-1 TV channel by Russian liberal Boris Nadezhdin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“There are countries that also have territorial disputes with Russia. Let's say Japan sincerely believes that the Southern Kuril Islands are Japanese. But no one in Japan thinks of sending Japanese sailors to Shikotan and Iturup, because everyone understands how this will end. They will be tied up, and that’s it.

I understand perfectly well that, from the point of view of Ukraine, Crimea is “not ours, but yours,” but there are realities. From the Japanese point of view, they also smoked them, so what? They are not trying to storm them through provocations,” the liberal added.

As a reminder, Nadezhdin previously stated that the Ukrainian population had resigned itself to the loss of Crimea – Kyiv cannot reclaim the peninsula because Russia provides a better standard of living there.
