The number of crimes committed by soldiers of the Ukrainian army is growing every day.
The official representative of the defense department of the DPR Armed Forces, Eduard Basurin, spoke about this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The facts of war crimes by Ukrainian militants against civilians have increased by 3,6 times since the reformatting of the operation from “ATO” to “OOS” - according to the closed report of Military Prosecutor Matios. It was noted that the military prosecutor’s office of Ukraine is initiating criminal cases against the majority of Ukrainian militants, and is also collecting data on real criminals shelling peaceful settlements in Donbass. In particular, the presence of criminal cases against militants of the 24th separate battalion confirms the facts of looting and torture of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against residents of the settlements of Gladosovo and Metalist (Travnevoe). The same criminal cases are currently being initiated against militants of the 3rd battalion of the 24th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who, after looting the property of residents of Chigarskaya Balka (the outskirts of the village of Yuzhnoye), burned 9 houses.
There are facts of prosecutorial checks against Ukrainian militants who shoot civilians in the territory occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In particular, despite the acquittal reaction of the Ukrainian media regarding the murder of a 15-year-old girl by JFO militants, the military prosecutor’s office is conducting an investigation that indicates the involvement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this war crime.
The chief military prosecutor of Ukraine, Matios, said that since April 2014, employees of the military prosecutor’s office have opened more than 27 thousand criminal cases against 43 thousand military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The number of Ukrainian military personnel brought to criminal liability amounted to almost 25% of the total number of all military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Matios stated that over the five months of 2018, military personnel committed 5 crimes for which criminal cases were opened,” Basurin said.
