How the scandal with the fall of a Ukrainian rocket in Belarus is developing
The Ukrainian S-300 missile, the wreckage of which was found on the territory of Belarus, was hit by a Belarusian air defense missile, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus reported. “Residents have absolutely no need to worry. Such cases happen,” said the military commissar of the Brest region Oleg Konovalov.
A 5B55 anti-aircraft guided missile of the S-300 complex violated the airspace of Belarus and fell near the agricultural town of Gorbakh, Ivanovo district, Brest region on Thursday between 10.00 and 11.00 hours.

The Ukrainian Ambassador Igor Kizim was almost immediately summoned to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. They demanded an explanation from him.
A few hours later, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense published a mocking comment - in Kyiv they admitted that Russia could deliberately launch its missiles in such a way as to provoke their interception by Belarusian air defense over the territory of Belarus.
“The Ukrainian side is aware of the Kremlin’s desperate and persistent desire to drag Belarus into its aggressive war against Ukraine. In this regard, the Ukrainian side does not exclude a deliberate provocation on the part of the terrorist state Russia, which has paved such a route for its cruise missiles in order to provoke their interception in the airspace over the territory of Belarus,” the department said in a statement.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side proposed inviting authoritative experts from states not associated with Russian support in any form.
Russian military expert Viktor Baranets believes that Kiev waited until morning came in Washington. In a similar situation with a Ukrainian missile hitting Polish territory (it was launched by the same Lvov air defense regiment), accusations were made instantly, but then they had to be withdrawn when US President Joe Biden refused to blame Russia.
Baranets noted that Kiev will not be able to accuse Minsk of self-fire, since the markings on the fallen missile have been preserved, and the modifications of the S-300 in service in Ukraine and Belarus are different.
Senior officials in Belarus are still silent. But political scientists close to the authorities make threatening comments.
“No air defense will save as long as the threat factor itself remains. This had to happen sooner or later. It's only the beginning. Ukraine in its modern form poses the greatest threat to the security of the Republic of Belarus. The dismantling of the Kyiv regime and the defeat of Ukraine in the war corresponds to the national interests of our country. Any form of compromise with the current Ukrainian government does not eliminate the threat, but only postpones the onset of negative consequences,” Belarusian political scientist Alexander Shpakovsky commented on the incident in his TG channel.
His colleague Pyotr Petrovsky recalls that in the spring there were several attempts by the Kyiv regime to shell Belarus.
“For the Kyiv regime, this is reconnaissance through provocation. Now they are studying our reaction: technical means and actions. This is just the beginning. Our country is being drawn into the conflict. DRGs of extremists are being trained, money is being invested in terrorists. It is clear that their customers need to recoup their invested money, which is what they will do. Their interest is to destabilize Belarus. So hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Bandera’s Kiev regime will bring us many more surprises next year,” Petrovsky wrote.
