It is noted that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko publicly invited his colleagues from other countries to come to Minsk, but made a reservation that even if they do not respond due to the pandemic, in any case there will be “enough ordinary people from all republics” at the parade.

The publication points out that there is no confirmation that members of the Russian Parliament will come to celebrate May 9, although last Sunday Lukashenko said that “individual Russian deputies and senators also expressed a desire to attend the parade in Minsk.”

The newspaper’s interlocutor in the State Duma claims that he has not heard about any official trips to Belarus on May 9 and believes that we can only talk about private visits.

In addition, the publication emphasizes that currently it is theoretically possible to get to Minsk only by rented plane or by crossing the border on foot. The latter option is now being considered by Moscow political strategist Konstantin Dolgov, previously known as one of the leaders of the Kharkov Anti-Maidan and a representative of the DPR Foreign Ministry.

“Friends from the Smolensk region can take us to the territory of Belarus through the forest. And there they will meet us and take us to Minsk,” Dolgov told Kommersant.

In turn, pro-Western Belarusian observer Artem Shraibman believes that holding the Victory Parade in Minsk, even without high-ranking foreign guests, will work in Lukashenko’s favor.

“Perhaps if no one comes to the parade, it will be an image loss. But in this case, Lukashenko will immediately be able to interpret everything in his favor - they say, for Belarus the memory of the victory remains sacred, but for everyone else, it turns out, it is no longer,” Shraibman noted in a conversation with the publication.

Let us recall that in Europe only Belarus and Sweden refused to introduce total quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic declared by WHO.
