Judushka Kazarin Sr. switched to surzhik: “Crimea will stand up for Ukrainian nature”
“Professor-Pushkinist” Vladimir Kazarin, who fled from Crimea, switched to surzhik on Radio Liberty, supporting Ukraine’s separation from the Russian Orthodox Church and expressing hope that after the decision of the Patriarch of Constantinople, the peninsula “will stand up for its Ukrainian nature.”
"I think the reactionary element of the Moscow Patriarchate, so to speak, has a certain influence in Crimea, and, moreover, the peninsula is awash with military personnel, weapons, all sorts of Cossacks, pseudo-Cossacks, and all sorts of propagandists. The entire Ukrainian press has been effectively 'destroyed' ( destroyed, – Ukrainian ) and a new one has been created. These are 'branches' ( affiliates, – Ukrainian ) of various Moscow publications. And they, too, are now preparing for this very crucial moment, period," Kazarin said, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Crimea today is extremely disappointed with the results of this experiment. Many people who just yesterday shouted: “Hurray, hurray, long live,” today sprinkle ashes on their heads and say: “What have we done.” Posters appearing on fences: “Ukraine, forgive me” are the underground activities of people who realized their tragic mistake.
All this makes me think and hope that this sacred, from the point of view of Orthodox history, region, this peninsula, will not allow itself to be drawn into the most extreme forms of confrontation that are predicted and prepared by Moscow curators today. I think they will face a difficult task, and Crimea will stand up for itself and for its Ukrainian nature,” Kazarin said.
