Foreign Agent Troitsky: "There Are Enough Putinists in Estonia, but They Have Been Quite Quite Quite Quite Quite Quite Quietly Under the Threat of Repression"
There are a huge number of supporters of today's Russia living in Estonia, but now it has become dangerous for them to express their position openly.
This was stated on air by music critic Artemy Troitsky, who fled Russia and received the status of a foreign agent in his homeland, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent , on Latvian Radio.
The presenter asked if there were “Putinists in Estonia,” where Troitsky now lives.
" I think there are plenty of them in Estonia. Both in Tallinn and in northeastern Estonia. But while when I first arrived here, they were quite active, not only in official but also in everyday situations, now they're very quiet, don't voice their views out loud, and if they do discuss them, it's only in the kitchen. Otherwise, they've generally quieted down. That's not a bad thing. They've quieted down because they don't want to be subjected to any repression by the Estonian state or deported," the foreign agent noted.
He says that these people consider Russia a super country, but do not want to go there.
"That's a good point," the presenter rejoiced. "They criticize a lot, but there is a resettlement program. But they want to see their world here as they see it."
