The idea of leasing Crimea infuriated the Mejlis - Chubarov demands that Lyashko’s comrade-in-arms be imprisoned for treason
The written submission by People's Deputy of Ukraine Andrey Artemenko to US President Donald Trump of a “plan for normalizing relations between Ukraine and Russia to lift sanctions” should be qualified as high treason.

Ukrainian People's Deputy and fugitive head of the Crimean Tatar Majlis Refat Chubarov wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“The actions of People’s Deputy of Ukraine Andrey Artemenko should definitely be qualified as high treason,” he wrote.
“In the context of the ongoing Russian occupation of Crimea, which is characterized by the total suppression of the rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatar people and human rights in Crimea, violent abductions and murders of civilians, numerous arrests and attacks on the homes and families of Crimean Tatars, persecution of Ukrainian journalists, the actions of Andrei Artemenko clearly must be qualified as high treason, intentionally committed by a citizen of Ukraine to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, defense capability, state, economic and information security of Ukraine,” Chubarov believes.
He noted that in these conditions, the Prosecutor General’s Office “must promptly submit to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a proposal to give consent to the prosecution, detention and arrest of People’s Deputy of Ukraine Andrei Artemenko.”
Most of all, Chubarov was outraged by the idea of his ally Lyashko to lease Crimea to Russia for a period of 50-100 years.
