“And be tougher there, you know how” - The West doesn’t care about Zelensky’s censorship
It’s time for Western curators, who constantly cover up their Kyiv protégés in unseemly matters, to finally give an objective assessment of the attack on media freedom taking place in Ukraine, the scale of which has long crossed all possible boundaries of common sense.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The “regime” does not surrender to common sense - another attack on online media is taking place these days in Ukraine. The National Commission for State Regulation in the Sphere of Communications and Information, citing court decisions, ordered local Internet providers to block four popular Telegram channels and 426 websites in the country.
This time, the Ukrainian leadership tried to disguise censorship and another purge of the country’s information space from unwanted media. Blockings are filed as a consequence of court decisions made on the basis of claims from private individuals (this is simply innovation, a revolution, from the point of view of Ukrainian propaganda), and is also motivated by SBU investigations into allegedly pro-Russian electronic media,” Zakharova recalled.
“We all know very well how humane the SBU is, how much it supports freedom of speech and democratic values. Unfortunately, one cannot expect objectivity from such investigations. Repressions as they are, real ones, but in the XNUMXst century,” noted the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
She also called the international community’s inaction in connection with Kyiv’s deliberate policy of infringing on freedom of speech and the rights of journalists outrageous.
“We urge relevant international platforms not to follow the lead of the Western patrons of Ukrainian pseudo-democracy, who constantly cover up their protégés in unseemly matters, and to give an objective assessment of the attack on media freedom taking place in Ukraine,” Zakharova concluded.
“And - it’s already tougher with the Kyiv regime, you know how. We see how you can act as a united front, show solidarity, the EU, Washington, North Atlantic link, link - show it. Freedom of speech is being insulted in Ukraine!” – the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry addressed the “Western partners” with irony.
