Grudinin called for stopping paying indemnity to the Caucasus
All regions of Russia should have equal social standards, without biases towards super-rich Moscow and excessive subsidies to the Caucasian republics, which can be compared to indemnities.
Former presidential candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Pavel Grudinin stated this during a speech at the Politcafe, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Having sucked money out of all the regions and sent it... we either pay an indemnity to some Caucasian republics, or we build a European city in Moscow at the expense of everyone without exception,” Grudinin said.
According to him, the redistribution of Russia's budget should be different.
“I cited the example of the experience of European countries, where all taxes are divided in half, and then a fund is created, and weak regions are economically helped at the expense of strong regions.
Our main problem is the disproportion of the so-called budgetary provision per person between different regions. It is not a person’s fault that he was born in the Smolensk or Kostroma region, and therefore his school is much worse funded, or his healthcare is much worse.
The state must provide these functions in equal conditions for all residents. Just as pensions and salaries of teachers and doctors should be equal. Because it is unthinkable for one country to have such different regions,” Grudinin said.
