The hryvnia has fallen because Ukraine feeds Russia - ex-deputy head of the NBU
Former deputy of the National Bank of Ukraine Alexander Savchenko believes that one of the reasons for the weakening of the hryvnia is the negative balance in trade with Russia.
He stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Unfortunately, our current account balance is negative. We buy more than we sell. This also weakens the hryvnia. Do you know who is responsible for our negative balance of payments? At the expense of Russia. Russia last year increased its exports to Ukraine by more than 20%. Can you imagine? This means that we feed Russia. Because exports from Ukraine to Russia are financing for Russia. And our exports to Russia fell by about 8%,” said the financier.
“This is an absurd policy that is directed against the Ukrainian manufacturer and in favor of the Russian manufacturer. And this is also one of the reasons for the weakening of the hryvnia. On the contrary, it is necessary to block Russian exports to Ukraine, with the exception of energy resources and coal. And even coal - we can transfer thermal power plants, it costs 100-150 billion, million dollars. We can modernize all thermal power plants and convert them to Ukrainian coal, give work to our miners,” Savchenko said.
