Kyiv, March 07 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) -Even if Russia makes concessions to the West and sanctions against it are lifted, Moscow will still have to “pay” for its actions in Crimea. US Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“Russia paid a heavy price for its actions here in Ukraine. I hope she comes to the conclusion that they are not worth it and changes her policy. If she really does this, if the separatists leave their weapons, the sanctions will be lifted.

But we also have to pay for the illegal occupation of Crimea. And, unfortunately, in Crimea, in addition to illegal annexation, we see a systematic violation of the rights of citizens - Crimean Tatars, those who do not want to surrender Ukrainian passports, LGBT people, and others. There, in Crimea, times are very difficult now. I think we need to pay attention to this.

If we think about security systems, the United States has already provided $120 million in assistance to Ukraine to strengthen security. We expect additional funds to be appropriated by Congress. This is something we are working very intensively on right now,” Blinken said.
