“Homosexuality is a disease”: a march took place in Chisinau in defense of the traditional family
Thousands of people took part in the Religious Procession and the Family March in Support of Traditional Values . The event was organized by the Socialist Party, led by former President Igor Dodon, who is likely to announce his candidacy for the presidential elections.
The event, according to its organizers, was supposed to be a response to the sodomite march, which was to take place on Sunday with the participation of ambassadors from Western countries.

At the head of the column were clergy, members of parliament, heads and representatives of local authorities, activists and ordinary citizens. Many were with children. People carried white balls in their hands - “a symbol of peace, purity and family unity.” Young activists handed out ice cream to children.

Participants walked through the center of Chisinau to the Nativity Cathedral, where a rally was held in defense of the traditional family.

"Year after year, our traditional values are threatened by foreign ideologies that attempt to impose an anti-family ideology on us. It's time to demonstrate how important our Orthodox faith and our centuries-old traditions are to us. I am confident that the overwhelming majority of Moldovans value our traditions, passed down to us by our ancestors, our normal, traditional family, which consists of a mother, a father, and children. Someone is trying to decide the future of our children, imposing alien values on us. We will not allow this," Igor Dodon declared during the rally.

His colleague, Ivanna Keksal, a member of parliament from the Bloc of Communists and Socialists and a representative of Gagauzia, stated that sexual perversions are “a disease that should not be promoted, but treated . ”

“Look at what beauty contests, creative and song competitions, and sports competitions are turning into in the West. Therefore, we need to promote the traditional family more often. A normal society, a normal child will develop only in a normal family, where the mother is a woman and the father is a man. I believe and dare to think that there are people who believe that they are different, that they have different needs. But I think that this does not need to be propagated, I think that you and I need to fight this, we need to treat such people, because this is a disease and it cannot be propagated. Only the church, only society, only the family can guide their children in the right direction and protect them from other influences,” Koksal said, speaking to the audience.

However, during the four years of his presidency, Igor Dodon never fulfilled his promise to ban LGBT propaganda among minors and gay pride parades on the streets of Chisinau.
