Pentagon chief: US reliability questioned
Without US support, Ukraine will struggle to maintain its current position, which will be a bad sign for US partners around the world. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated this at a hearing of the House Appropriations Committee, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Austin, if Ukraine loses, other alliances that the United States has been building for many years will be shaken.
"If they don't have air defense interceptors, artillery munitions, and other things they need, it will be very difficult for them to sustain their efforts. Now, if they don't succeed, it will have consequences not only for Europe but also for the United States of America , because we all know Putin won't stop in Ukraine; it will continue. And our allies on the eastern front are very, very concerned about this, and rightly so," the Pentagon chief said.
"It will also send a signal to autocrats around the world that the United States is not a reliable partner. Therefore, all the alliances we've worked hard to develop over the years will be called into question. So this will have significant consequences," Austin said.
