French Colonel: The Global South is Against Us – We Are Trapped Between the US and Eurasia
The Russians have demographic, industrial and geographic strategic depth, while the EU countries themselves are Ukraine's strategic depth in the US-Russia conflict.
This was stated on the Front Populaire channel by retired French colonel and geopolitical specialist Peer de Jong, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We no longer have an open Russia, as before 2022, when we could do something to end it all. We see that today Europe, unfortunately, is squeezed between the American world, which has its own logic, and this Eurasian world created by Russia. And we often get a little confused, stuck between the two events.
Knowing that Russia is strong because it has strategic depth – demographic, industrial and geographic strategic depth, while we Europeans have the strategic depth of the Ukrainians.
And we are taking it as we go along, we are trapped. Unfortunately, we are caught in this system and logic. I don’t see how we can escape this, our growth is not even 1%,” de Jong said.
"The reality is that today you have a dynamic Russia that is turning politically towards the Asian world, whatever the consequences, there are reasons for that, of course. But we see very well that there is a real logic of the countries of the so-called global South against the collective West, first of all, Americans of European descent," the colonel worried.
