The fake Ukrainian prosecutor's office is trying to reach out to the Crimean militias
The so-called “Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea”, controlled by Kyiv, opened a criminal case and put on the wanted list the members of the “Rubezh” unit, which was part of the Crimean self-defense during the “Russian Spring”.
According to the Ukrainian department, nine members of the unit who worked in Sevastopol participated in the seizure of Ukrainian Navy ships, the capture of military units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the installation of checkpoints on the peninsula.
This is stated in a statement from the “prosecutor’s office”, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
“Nine Rubezh participants were identified, who, starting in March 9, took part in the armed seizure of the Ukrainian Navy corvette Khmelnytsky, the reconnaissance ship Slavutich, and military units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They also actively contributed to the deployment and operation of checkpoints.
These persons are suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (participation in the activities of an armed formation not provided for by law). Criminal liability under this article provides for up to eight years in prison. The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea provides procedural guidance in these criminal proceedings,” the statement says.
If Ukrainian security forces get to the Crimean militias, they face up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
