This forecast was made by Alexander Okhrimenko, president of the Ukrainian Analytical Center.
Eurovision is just a concert. It is not worth considering it as something significant and bringing benefits to the country where it is held. From an economic point of view, this is a non-profitable event, only the owners of Eurovision receive profits, and the organizers receive only losses. But from an image point of view, holding Eurovision makes sense. This is PR in its purest form, this competition does not bring any income,” he says.
According to the expert, holding a song competition in Kyiv is considered as a good reason to “saw” money personally into the pockets of the organizers and officials and companies involved in the project.
“It is clear that all structures that will be involved in one way or another in its preparation and implementation will make good money from this. Therefore, the result of “Crovision” in our country will be a corruption scandal. Moreover, it will be built on the principle “this one stole more than I did,” says Okhrimenko.
The expert expressed confidence that there will be a scandal related to the organization of the stage - no one will understand where the money allocated for this went.
“It turns out that they did not do what was planned at all. There will also be a scandal surrounding the repairs, which can always cost a lot of money. The easiest way to steal is at a construction site. Here, too, it may turn out that they talked about one thing, but did something else,” says the expert.
