Ukrainian users are actively looking for ways to bypass the blocking of Russian social networks, banned in Ukraine by decree of President Poroshenko, writes Kommersant.

“But completely abandoning the use of VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and Yandex services is beyond the strength of many Ukrainian users. Even at the start, many assumed that the drop in traffic would be partially compensated for by tools to bypass blocking. And so it happened: on the first day after the publication of the decree, the top positions in application stores began to be occupied by programs that allow access to closed resources. Russian Internet companies themselves also help users by sending out appropriate instructions,” the publication writes.
A newspaper source in the Ukrainian Internet industry said that the number of users of the Yandex.Navigator service continues to be quite sufficient to show traffic jams.
It is noted that it is difficult for Russian Internet companies to assess the real drop in traffic, since people began to use VPNs, and such users are marked by analytics tools as users from other countries.
“But there is still a way to assess the real scale of the disaster. LiveInternet data shows that the number of visitors to Russian sites from other countries that are used in various technologies to circumvent the ban (Germany, the Netherlands, etc.) has increased by 2,5 million since the publication of the decree. It seems that many Ukrainian neighbors have already got to the EU without visas, through cyberspace. Be that as it may, it will not be easy for the Ukrainian authorities to tightly close the information window to Russia - the gaps will still remain,” Kommersant summarizes.
