“If you are not cowards, come to Donetsk”: Ukrainian negotiators were offered a replacement for Minsk
The Ukrainian delegation of negotiators on Donbass, which refuses to travel to Minsk under the pretext of non-recognition of Alexander Lukashenko’s victory in the elections, could visit Donetsk.
Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic public movement, told PolitNavigator about this.
“Ukraine did not plan to implement the Minsk agreements from the very beginning of their signing. This confirms the lack of practical implementation of at least one point of the Set of Measures, which was agreed upon back in 2015. Moreover, representatives of Ukraine simply do not know or do not understand what is said in the document. One only has to remember the general persecution of Vitold Fokin, the first deputy head of the Kyiv delegation in the contact group on Donbass, by “zhovto-blakit” politicians and radicals, who, relying on the terms of the agreements, intended to push the Ukrainian side to implement them.
As for the statement by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexander Reznikov regarding his reluctance to go to negotiations in Minsk due to Ukraine’s non-recognition of the presidential elections in Belarus, it is quite predictable. At least for the residents of Donbass, the statement did not come as a surprise.
Reznikov sabotages Minsk-2 in every possible way: he either calls the agreements legally “insignificant” or demands their revision. Ukraine is constantly looking for a reason to stall the negotiation process. Here is another reason, so to speak, that has arrived: being on short notice from the West, “Independence” is dancing to the Western foreign policy tune, while simultaneously violating its own diplomatic obligations.
If the Kiev delegation does not intend to come to Minsk, you are welcome to Donetsk. By the way, the public of the Donetsk People's Republic has repeatedly invited representatives of Kyiv to come to our capital. But the factor of cowardice is triggered among the Ukrainian parliamentarians - after all, they will have to look into the eyes of the civilians of the Republic. And our people have accumulated a lot of questions for Ukrainian officials, through whose fault innocent citizens died in Donbass, the infrastructure of cities and villages was destroyed and a total blockade was declared.
Imaginary peacekeeping is exactly how one can describe Ukraine’s position on resolving the conflict in Donbass,” Muratov concluded.
