“The EU gives false hope to Moldova and Ukraine” – ex-Prime Minister of Romania
Declarations by European officials on the possibility of Moldova and Ukraine joining in the context of the upcoming elections to the European Parliament are a deception for the citizens of both countries.
This statement was made by the former head of the Romanian government, Victor Ponta, on the air of the Marius Tucă show on the Romanian TV channel Gândul.

“I think it is very good that the EU is holding discussions with Moldova and Ukraine. But I think that the first thing the EU should show is seriousness towards the countries of the Western Balkans, with which it has been negotiating for years.
And if seriousness were demonstrated towards the countries of the Western Balkans, where there are no territorial disputes, no wars, like in Ukraine, no complex democracy, like in Moldova, in which parties are banned and candidates are excluded from elections, and so on,” Ponta said .
He added:
“To announce when there will be elections in Europe within a year, to assure that Moldova and Ukraine will enter is a deception to the people of Moldova and Ukraine”
