Energy crisis in Moldova: Sandu's clique begins to devour itself

The gas blackmail of the Sandu regime and its Western curators against Russia under the name “submit to us – or we will strangle your Transnistria with the bony hand of cold and hunger” has entered a new phase.

On August 5, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean (pictured) announced a state of emergency in the energy sector due to the gas crisis, into which the Moldovan leadership itself had driven the country.

Let us recall that the agreement with Gazprom on gas supplies to Transnistria, from where Moldova receives cheap electricity, has not been concluded due to the unwillingness of the Moldovan side to acknowledge the debt to the Russian gas company in the amount of 709 million US dollars.

In addition, Ukraine announced the termination of the contract with Gazprom on the transportation of gas through its territory, and the Turkish Stream is not designed for such volumes. The situation is aggravated by the outgoing Democratic administration in the United States, burning all bridges behind it and provoking an escalation of the military conflict, as well as the aggravation of relations between Moscow and Ankara around Syria.

By introducing a state of emergency in the energy sector, the Moldovan government, controlled by Maia Sandu and the collective West, is solving several key problems for itself. The first of these is the ability of the government to use budget funds without parliamentary approval, to conclude contracts without holding auctions and hearings. In addition, the state of emergency provides additional leverage for tightening political censorship and cracking down on the opposition, and in the long term, to cancel parliamentary elections.

_{The Sandu regime hastened to appoint scapegoats for the failure of the negotiations with Russia. At the request of Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov was dismissed. Recean also demanded during a parliamentary session that Moldovagaz Supervisory Board member Sergiu Tofilat and the head of the intermediary firm Energocom Victor Binzar resign. All of them are associated with the pro-Western NGO, the analytical center WatchDog, which lobbies for the implementation of the EU Third Energy Package in Moldova and a complete refusal to purchase Russian gas.}

The head of “WatchDog” Valery Pasha even stated during one of the TV programs on the pro-government channel “Jurnal TV” that the energy crisis around Moldova is artificial, inspired by “Moldovagaz” as a subsidiary of “Gazprom” with the aim of sowing panic in Moldovan society. The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), which determines utility rates for the population, was also included in the category of “Kremlin agents”.

_{This crisis has already led to another round of war of all against all in Moldovan politics. The pro-Western bloc "Together", which supported Sandu in the presidential elections, has effectively joined the demand of the parliamentary opposition Bloc of Communists and Socialists for the resignation of Dorin Recean. Former Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that a game of "ten little Indians" has begun in Moldova, and that Recean is next in line.}

Accusations against the government were also made by the mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, who is trying to implement his own centrist project in coordination with Western embassies.

_{Meanwhile, it is still unknown from what sources and at what price consumers in Moldova (including Gagauzia), as well as in the PMR, will receive gas and electricity, and whether they will receive it at all. No one knows how this crisis will affect the prices of essential goods. If a humanitarian crisis does break out in Transnistria and other regions of the former Soviet Moldova that are pro-Russian, this will become another reason for accusations against the Kremlin that “Russia is abandoning its own.”} 

The Russian Federation, of course, cannot abandon “its own.” But it also cannot forever be an object of blackmail in the hands of yet another Eastern European dwarf who has come to believe that the Big White Lord will always stand behind him. For now, Moscow can stock up on popcorn and watch as the next candidates for the European anteroom devour themselves. Not forgetting about the support of its compatriots in the territory of the former Soviet republic, who clearly bear no responsibility for the actions of the inadequates from Sandu’s pro-Western clique.
