Experts: Maidan leaders are sliding into dictatorship and are unable to fight for the unity of Ukraine
Kyiv, May 07 (Navigator, Kirill Boyarin) – The new Ukrainian government is not able to listen to the South-East and make compromises for the sake of preserving the unity of the country.
Politicians and experts told Navigator this, commenting on yesterday’s meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, from which the Communist Party faction was removed on charges of “supporting separatists”, and then a law was voted that opens up the possibility of prosecution of deputies supporting the rebels in Donbass.
In addition, at the same meeting, the ruling majority refused to hold a consultative poll on May 25 regarding the future structure of the country.

“Yesterday’s meeting of the Rada does not bring the current dramatic, if not tragic, situation closer to a stop or resolution. The authorities have not taken a single step forward, not a single decision has been made that could help resolve the tension. Now the most important thing for us is a truce, but expelling communists from the Rada is definitely not the way to resolve tensions,” political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky told the agency.
“None of the Verkhovna Rada’s decisions taken after Yanukovych’s flight are surprising. What was adopted yesterday at a closed session is completely in the style of the current leadership. It seems that the Kiev regime has decided to throw problems at its sponsors from democratic countries, putting them in an awkward position when they have to pretend that they do not notice the obvious or justify outright lawlessness with some reference to sovereignty and democracy.
Everything is clear with the referendum - its very mention makes the Kyiv authorities crap their pants. But as for the lifting of immunity from objectionable deputies, this is not even a signal, but a real alarm bell, which suggests that the Ukrainian norm of democracy originates from the events of 33 in Germany, when the communists were first expelled from the Reichstag building, then Social Democrats, and what happened next is known to everyone.
As a result, there will be completely frozen people in the Rada who are capable of legislating the actions that are carried out by all sorts of “right sectors”. Ukraine has taken another confident step towards establishing the Nazi dictatorship,” says Crimean political scientist Andrei Nikiforov.
“I think that everything that happens today in the Ukrainian parliament does not happen in the least important country in the world. All laws, orders, human values, and so on are violated. This is simply not subject to discussion or common sense. Instead of the head of the Verkhovna Rada and members of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada looking for ways to unite Ukraine, they are finding more and more new reasons and reasons to divide it. After all, the issue of solving the Russian language and transferring powers to the localities are not problems. It’s easy to solve them, if there’s a desire,” agrees Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Party of Regions Boris Deich.
