Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to return all of Ukraine under his control. Former adviser to Vladimir Putin Andrei Illarionov stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian website Obozrevatel.

According to him, this is evidenced by the president’s speech at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, where he again stated that Russians and Ukrainians are one and the same people.

“Everything that was said before about the Minsk agreements by Putin. Everything that was said for peace and so on can then be thrown into the trash. Because the statement that Russians and Ukrainians are the same ethnic group is nothing more than an official statement about the continuation of the war against Ukraine. The goal of this war remains to establish control over Kiev. Claiming that Russians and Ukrainians are the same people, he lays claim not only to Kyiv, but to the whole of Ukraine,” Illarionov assures.
