Two main directions of ideological sabotage of the West against Russia
The two main directions of ideological sabotage by the West against Russia are provocations against the Russian Orthodox Church and distortion of the historical memory of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The presenter of the Tsargrad TV channel, Andrei Afanasyev, spoke about this during a meeting of the Temporary Commission of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation for the Protection of State Sovereignty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We tried to formulate as briefly as possible what the forces acting today, including against the Russian Orthodox Church, see as a threat to themselves from the Russian Orthodox Church, and came to the following conclusion.
The first is the colossal potential of soft power in the eyes of the local population of Western countries in Europe and the United States. I’ll back it up with simple numbers: in a personal conversation with an American priest who was born in the USA and converted to Orthodoxy, he said that of the three million Orthodox Christians living in the USA today, only half are representatives of the diaspora - Greeks, Bulgarians, Serbs, Russians, the other half - one and a half million are converts from Americans representing Protestant denominations.
People, for various reasons, due to neoliberal propaganda, due to the fact that a number of denominations make a number of decisions that do not correspond to the canons of the Church, abandon their Protestant identity in favor of the Orthodox, because they see in Orthodoxy the continuity of the Apostolic teaching, which is unconditional.
The same processes are observed in Europe, but in America, surprisingly, they are particularly evident – 50 percent of American Orthodox Christians are converts from other Christian denominations. This ( the West's opposition to Orthodoxy – ed. ), from the perspective of our opponents, is a kind of defensiveness," the journalist explained.
“If we talk about the offensive, then, of course, they consider the Russian Orthodox Church, first of all, as the largest network institution uniting Russian people. It's no secret that their main attacks are aimed at ensuring that there are no valences and connections within society and the people. Accordingly, at the moment there are two such large institutions in our people: the first is, of course, the Russian Orthodox Church, the second is the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
These are two factors that unite the vast majority of the population of our country, and, accordingly, we can observe that it is precisely because of these two factors that attacks occur regularly with enviable consistency,” added Andrey Afanasyev.
