Donetsk journalist: “Minsk” cost Donbass thousands of lives
From the first days of the signing of the Minsk agreements in 2014, many in Russia sincerely believed that there was no war in Donbass, peaceful life was being established, and an agreement could be reached with the Ukrainians.
Donetsk journalist Evgenia Martynova stated this on the Oplot TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“What they were needed for is a rhetorical question. But what was our shock was when they were accepted, when Mariupol was practically ours. These “warriors of light” fled from there towards Berdyansk, hanging like bunches of grapes on jeeps, throwing out and pushing each other aside. They took out all the documents.
The people who stood at the checkpoints, Ukrainians, turned their equipment in the other direction - you, he says, will advance, so that you can see that we are not shooting, so that they do not touch us. The city stood empty for several days. After which there were the Minsk agreements, and all these Bandera barefoot people rushed there, running and running, and how did it end? In 2014, it was clear how this would end,” Martynova said.
TV presenter Ekaterina Mikhailova confirmed her colleague’s idea.
“How many years did they have to rearm, prepare, and now we have Avdeevka and Mariupol, we are already restoring, but how many cities of Donbass will now simply be wiped off the face of the earth, thanks to this lost time. Although, who are we to discuss big politics?” Mikhailova noted.
“To know what agreements there were,” Martynova agreed. “However, these agreements cost thousands of lives, both civilians and soldiers.”
She recalled how during the Minsk agreements the Donetsk residents were not believed when they talked about the shelling.
“And the most offensive thing for Donbass was that it was impossible to talk about it. They simply didn’t believe us. I, and probably people from Donbass, were perceived as crazy somewhere on social networks when we wrote that we were under shelling. Yes, this cannot be. Are they shooting at you? You are saying something wrong.
Here, convoys are coming to you, you are establishing a peaceful life, what do you even want? Please, don’t muddy the waters, you will somehow shut up, now we will make peace with the Ukrainians, and everything will be fine.
This is not the case. And when it slammed like that, and suddenly it turned out that the Minsk agreements were a mistake, and everything is approaching, it’s impossible, you need to go and just throw them out of here - for many it came as a shock,” the journalist concluded.
