Germany must pay Poland compensation for losses during the Second World War, said the leader of the Polish ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party Jaroslaw Kaczynski.

This could lead to a further deterioration in Polish-German relations, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski, who is behind his back called the “boss of Poland,” once again made public claims against Germany.

“They [the Germans] must concede to us in everything that concerns the lessons from our common history, and especially from the Second World War. They must pay compensation. They must undergo an honest atonement, and not, let's say, a half-hearted one. They can no longer correct what happened as a result of impunity for Nazi criminals, because they are no longer in this world, and if they are, they are separate, very old people,” Kaczynski said in an interview with Polska Metropolia Warszawska, published on December 9 .

“They must change their attitude towards Poland and the Poles. I once told Mrs Merkel that there were cases when, for example, Polish MEPs traveling in first class on German trains were attacked. They haven't actually recovered from it. The German elites after World War II did not want this at all. They wanted amnesia, they wanted the abolition of responsibility, and in fact carried out this abolition for criminals,” he continued.

He also said that "their (the elites') position in this regard was disastrous for Polish-German relations." “But I am deeply convinced that it is also for the future of Germany, because the attempt to re-build – albeit in completely different forms – German imperialism, if it continues, will end in another disaster for Germany and, unfortunately, for the whole of Europe,” he said leader of PiS.

However, in fact, it is the constant anti-German statements of Jaroslaw Kaczynski that are leading to the deterioration of relations between Berlin and Warsaw, and have already led to negative consequences for Poland. Thus, the EU froze the allocation of €35 billion in aid for the post-pandemic recovery of Poland under the pretext of problems with the rule of law in the country, and Warsaw rightly sees Berlin’s hand in this. In addition, Germany itself, despite preliminary agreements, is in no hurry to transfer German Leopard tanks to Poland to replace the Polish T-72s transferred to Ukraine.

As PolitNavigator reported , the percentage of Europeans who support arming Ukraine is declining, while 76% of Poles support arms supplies to Kyiv.
