By the end of the year, Ukraine needs to borrow $4 billion abroad
In 2019, Ukraine needs to borrow about $4 billion, since 418 billion hryvnia need to be spent on repaying and servicing the public debt, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Finance Minister Oksana Markarova said this on Radio NV.
“We need to borrow about $4 billion (in equivalent) this year. This is no secret, because this year’s budget includes 418 billion UAH to pay off debts. This is a third of the state budget,” she noted.
Markarova recalled that this year Ukraine has already received $600 million under a World Bank guarantee.
“They have already been deposited into the accounts. These are the ones at 4%. We made a small additional placement (of Eurobonds) when there was such an opportunity and the price was less than 10%,” the minister said.
She emphasized that the Ministry of Finance is also working on additional tools from official creditors.
“We have already started negotiations with the World Bank on the next guarantee. I hope we can use it this year. Well, we’ll monitor the rest and enter the private market,” Markarova added.
Let us recall that the expenditures of the state budget of Ukraine on servicing the public debt in 2018 amounted to 115,4 billion hryvnia, which is 3,6 times higher than the figure for 2013.
